State Conference 2027
Competition Information

Certain events require event coordinators. Those competitions can be found on the event coordinator pages. Chapter Advisors can serve as event coordinators. Those who do will receive free registration. If a competition listed on the Event Coordinators page does not have an event coordinator assigned to it, the competition will not be held at the State Conference.

Early Submission Instructions

Early Submission Window: January 25 - January 31, 2027 at 11:59pm

Late submissions will not be accepted. The site will close at 11:59pm. It is important to plan ahead as internet issues, file issues, etc. can occur and will not be considered valid excuses to submit a late entry.

JudgePro Student Login Instructions

  1. Navigate to the Colorado TSA JudgePro system at https://judgepro.registermychapter.com/org/jpco-state/conf/tsacostate/student

  2. Use your Participant ID number as your username (ask your advisor for your Participant ID)

  3. Enter the password: COTSAEVENTsub2027

  4. For assistance or issues please contact your chapter advisor

JudgePro File Naming Conventions

Example for Individual Events: Event Abbreviation_Participant ID Number​

  • CADEHS_2992299.pdf

Example for Team Events: Event Abbreviation_Chapter ID Number - Team Number

  • ADHS_2992-3.pdf

Note: First four digits (2992) are the Chapter ID Number, the final digit (3) is the team number. If you are unsure about your chapter ID and team number or your participant ID for your contest, ask your advisor as the number is listed in your chapter's registration.

JudgePro File Type Instructions

Documentation and Text Documents

  • Documentation Portfolios and additional documents (resume, photographic portfolio, etc.) should be combined into one PDF and the file uploaded directly into JudgePro. 

Video and Audio Files

  • Video and Audio files should be uploaded to YouTube as an unlisted video. To ensure videos are able to be played at the Film Festival, do not mark the video as "Made for Kids". Copy the video/audio URL into JudgePro. Test the link in a private browser to ensure it works properly.

  • If you are unable to upload the video/audio to YouTube, you may upload the video/audio to Google Drive and share the link. Ensure permissions are set to "Anyone with the link can view." If a judge does not have access to the file, they competition entry will not be judges.

URLs

  • URLs are able to be copied into JudgePro. Ensure proper testing of the URL and the site the URL links to does not require a login. A judge who is unable to access the entry located at the URL will not evaluate the entry.

For a full list of display check-in events, see the tables below. These events must be submitted to Cottonwood 6/7 or Cottonwood 8/9 by 3:00pm on February 25, 2027.

In each room a space will be identified by your Team-ID or Participant-ID to place your project.

Middle School Competitive Events

Modifications to Middle School Competitions

Audio Podcasting MS

  • This event will have an early submission component only. There will be no semifinal round.

Biotechnology MS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Challenging Technology Issues MS

  • There will be only one round of competition.

Children's Stories MS

  • The documentation portfolio will be used to determine the top 24 who qualify to bring their storybook to the State Conference. The storybooks will be evaluated at the State Conference to determine the top 12 semifinalists.

  • Semifinalists teams will have 5 minutes to present and answer questions from judges.

Construction Challenge MS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Data Science & Analytics MS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Drone Challenge (UAV) MS

  • All teams must submit their documentation portfolio during the early submission window. Teams that do will be invited to test their drone and interview during the State Conference.

Inventions and Innovations MS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Mass Production MS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Medical Technology MS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 5 minutes to present and answer questions from judges.

Microcontroller Design MS

  • Only top 12 teams will complete the 5 minute semifinalist interview

Off the Grid MS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

On Demand Video MS​

  • Teams will have 24 hours instead of 36 hours to produce their video.

Robotics MS

  • All teams will complete the testing of their robot and interview at the State Conference.

​Solar Racer MS

  • Depending on registration for this event, time trials may be skipped. The showcase display and model must be submitted during display check-in and may be picked up during the window listed on the conference schedule to be brought to the race track.

  • The track will be low-pile carpet.

  • Semifinal interviews will take place on 2/27/27

STEM Animation MS

  • This event will have an early submission component only. There will be no semifinal round.

Animatronics HS

  • There will only be one round of competition.

Architectural Design HS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Audio Podcasting HS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Board Game Design HS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Career Prep HS

  • This event will follow the Career Prep MS competition theme and guidelines

Catapult Design HS

  • This event will  follow the Mechanical Engineering MS theme and guidelines

Children's Stories HS

  • The documentation portfolio will be used to determine the top 24 who qualify to bring their storybook to the State Conference. The storybooks will be evaluated at the State Conference to determine the top 12 semifinalists.

  • Semifinalist teams will have 5 minutes for the presentation and interview.

Debating Technological Issues

  • There will not be a semifinal round at the State Conference.

Engineering Design HS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

  • Teams are required to submit the documentation portfolio as a PDF online by the early submission deadline AND bring a hard copy to submit in-person at the State Conference.

Fashion Design HS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges. Fashion Design projects can be picked up for the fashion show between 12:00pm and 1:00pm on 2/26/27. All teams are invited to take part in the fashion show.

Interior Design HS

  • Semifinalists teams will have 7 minutes to present and 3 minutes to answer questions from judges.

Manufacturing Prototype HS

  • Semifinalist teams will have 5 minutes for the presentation and interview.

On Demand Video HS​

  • Teams will have 24 hours instead of 36 hours to produce their video.

Prepared Presentation HS

  • All participants will submit a video of themself giving the presentation in the early submission window.

  • The top 24 participants will be invited to present at the State Conference.

Robotics HS

  • All teams will complete the testing of their robot and interview at the State Conference.

Hybrid Racer XL HS

  • Depending on registration for this event, time trials may be skipped. The showcase display and model must be submitted during display check-in and may be picked up during the window listed on the conference schedule to be brought to the race track.

  • The track will be low-pile carpet.

  • Semifinal interviews will take place on 2/27/27

Software Development HS

  • Teams submit a URL to or PDF of their code during the early submission window.

  • All teams are invited to interview at the State Conference. There will be only one round of interviews.

Transportation Modeling HS

  • Semifinalists will have 5 minutes for the presentation and interview.

Video Game Design HS

  • Teams will have 10 minutes to complete the semifinal presentation/interview.

​Vlogging HS

  • This event will have an early submission component only. There will be no semifinal round.

Giant Jenga Competition Information

Giant Jenga registration will close on January 22, 2027. The event is open to Middle and High School TSA Chapters. Entrants are limited to three (3) teams of two (2) to four (4) students per chapter. Individual team members do not need to be named until the start of the Giant Jenga Tournament. Registration must be completed by the Chapter Advisor.

Giant Jenga registration will ask for up to three team names to be used in the Giant Jenga Bracket. The number of team names you submit (up to 3) will determine the number of teams in the Giant Jenga competition for your chapter. Ensure to communicate to your chapter which individuals are on the teams you register.
