STATE OFFICERS

STATE OFFICER BIOS

Riya Bhat | President

Hi everyone! My name is Riya Bhat and I’m so glad to be serving as your State President this year! A few things about me are that I like to run track, bike, and paint. I run for Mountain Vista’s Track Team and love competing in a variety of events. My favorite events are pole vaulting, the 100 and 200 meter dash, and the 4x1 relay! Alongside track, I also enjoy biking in my free time. I love to go on bike rides on trails and around my neighborhood as much as possible on any given day. Another one of my hobbies is painting; I enjoy creating still life and landscape art. My favorite piece that I’ve created is an acrylic still life of a hummingbird and a fuschia. I prefer to use acrylic and watercolor mediums when painting. That’s a little about me! And I can’t wait to see what great things are to come this year!

John Masulit | Vice President

Hello everyone, my name is John Masulit, and I am serving as your Vice President for the 2020-2021 year! I am super excited to support you this year. Some of the things that I like to do outside of TSA are taekwondo, lacrosse, and hiking. I have done taekwondo since I was five and I compete nationally and internationally. I enjoy being able to train with people who are working to a similar goal all year long! I joined my school lacrosse team without the ability to pick up the ball, but now I play defense for the school. Last year we lost only one game during our season and it was against Columbine in overtime. I really enjoy the team and being able to work hard and spend time with people that support each other. Finally, I enjoy driving out for a day and going hiking. I was born and raised in Colorado, so the mountains hold a special place in my heart. I like being able to disconnect and go out for a day into the wilderness. I hope that you share some of these activities as well and that you are excited for the coming year of TSA!

Viviana Nelson | Secretary

Hey y'all, my name is Viviana Nelson and I'm your secretary for the 2020-2021 year! I can't wait to get started and support all of you this year. Besides TSA, which happens to be one of my favorite things, I have a few other hobbies. I really enjoy painting, writing, going on hikes, gardening and cooking. While I may be from STEM, I am definitely an art and creativity oriented person. I love spending time on my own in my own element, but I also love going out with friends. Even with the Corona Virus starting off this year, hopefully TSA can do enough virtual things to help everyone stay connected. I love to go skiing, as any true Coloradan would (yes, snowboarders are still true Coloradans) and I love being in the mountains. I'm excited to start this year!

Li Hong Sweet-Seip | Treasurer

Hello there! My name is Li Hong Sweet-Seip, and I will serve as Colorado TSA's 2020-2021 state treasurer. I look forward to all that will be accomplished in this upcoming year. Outside of TSA, I'm always finding myself busy. My hobbies include model making, rocketry, coding, gaming, and of course, sleeping. In school, I participate in track and StellarXplorers. I find running to be a good way to wind down after school. StellarXplorers is like my brain game, and last year our team took 3rd place for the finals. I hope that you are all excited to see what this year brings for Colorado TSA.

Shruti Narwaney | Reporter

Hey! My name is Shruti Narwaney, and I’m so excited to be serving as your state reporter this year! Some of the things I like to do are swim, sketch, and code. I competitively swam for seven years, and, even though I’m not competitive anymore, I still love to swim! I now swim on my high school team and lettered this year, and my favorite part of swimming is breath control and my favorite stroke is backstroke. Next, I love sketching architecture and portraits. Even though each piece takes a lot of time and I’m not the greatest artist, it gives me something to do. Finally, I like to code and work with computers. I first got into coding back in fifth grade, and then I moved to STEM where I got into computers even more. After moving to Mountain Vista for high school, my friend, who also loves to code, and I started a coding club. My favorite coding language is Java. I look forward to serving you this year!

David Marquez | Sergeant at Arms

Hello Colorado TSA, my name is David Marquez and I have the privilege of serving as your Sergeant At Arms for the 2020-2021 School Year! This is an amazing opportunity and I am thankful to be able to work with such a great officer team. Outside of TSA I like Fencing, Hiking/Camping, and studying microorganisms. I started fencing around 2 years ago when I was in 6th grade and have participated in some tournaments on and off and for awhile I was competitive. Eventually it came down to getting further invested into TSA or staying competitive (because of how often I would have to train), so now I just do it casually. I really enjoy Hiking and Camping because there is just something surreal about being in a forest or just being out in nature. It also helps me disconnect and destress and take a step back from school or just everyday life. Finally, I also really like studying microorganisms just because they are so different from animals I see on a daily basis. Also because of how crazy some of them are, for example there is a microorganism called a Hydra which like the Hydra from Greek mythology if a piece of it gets broken off or cut off it becomes another hydra and this has gone so far that scientists cut one up into millions of pieces and within minutes they are millions of Hydras. I would love to interact with as many of you as possible in the coming days and I hope that all of you continue to stay safe.

Ritvik Durgempudi | Officer at Large

Hello! My name is Ritvik Durgempudi and I am serving as your Officer at Large for the 2020-21 year. I look forward to working with everyone over the course of the year. Outside of TSA I enjoy reading, longboarding, playing tennis, video games, and I love the outdoors. I started longboarding when I was 13. I really enjoy riding as it is very calming. I love the outdoors in general and in my spare time I often volunteer as a camp counselor for Outdoor Ed and I love camping with friends. If i'm not outdoors, then I'm probably cozied up in my room reading. I have been an avid reader since my childhood and my favorite book series is Red Rising. I've played tennis since I was pretty young and now I play for my school. It is a fun sport that has brought me much joy and my friends and I love to play. I'm excited for the coming year in TSA and if you have any good reads don't be shy to tell me!

Lauren Watts | Officer at Large

Hi! My name is Lauren Watts and I am serving as your second 2020-2021 Officer at Large. I'm really excited to learn from this position and help TSA grow. Though I really enjoy TSA, there are some other things I like to do like drawing, biking, and baking. I usually draw on paper but I do sometimes draw digitally. I'm practicing to be able to draw in a more realistic style. I used to bike competitively in a sport called cyclocross. Even though I no longer race competitively, I still really enjoy biking. Lastly, I really enjoy baking. I enjoy baking macarons and cookies. These are just a few of the things I enjoy doing outside of TSA. I'm really excited to work with you all this year!
